The Heart Behind the Work
“Be yourself. People want to know your heart, not a polished version of who you think you should be.”
Lindsay Schiess has built a career—and a life—on that belief.
“Be yourself. People want to know your heart, not a polished version of who you think you should be.”
Lindsay Schiess has built a career—and a life—on that belief.
Lindsay is a curious soul who finds joy in people, pancakes, and sleeping under the stars. She laughs loudly, cries during commercials, and is always up for a mountain wander or a deep conversation. More than anything, she loves people.
As a mom to four and wife to one very patient man, she believes families are life’s greatest classroom, where we learn how to love, grow, mess up, say sorry, and try again (and again…and again).
Lindsay is a speaker, therapist, professor at the University of Utah, and podcast host—which basically means she asks a lot of questions and never stops being fascinated by what makes people tick. Through her company, Rise With Purpose, she helps individuals, teams, and organizations build resilience, strengthen relationships, and navigate life and work with more courage and compassion.
She believes deeply in the goodness of people and the remarkable capacity we all have to heal, grow, and show up for one another.
Lindsay’s entire career has been rooted in a single conviction: we improve the world one person at a time.
As a therapist, she has witnessed firsthand how healing happens in relationships, and how one meaningful conversation, one act of genuine care, can set someone on an entirely different path. As a speaker and professor, she has seen what happens when people are equipped with the courage and compassion to show up fully for themselves and for others.
That’s what drew her to Build Then Bless.
“Their mission aligns closely with what I already believe—that when we’ve been blessed with opportunities, experience, or success, we should intentionally use those gifts to serve, encourage, and lift the people around us.”
For Lindsay, Build Then Bless is about more than generosity. Instead, it’s about intentionality.
“To me, ‘Build Then Bless’ means building something that creates a positive impact and then using it to bless other people’s lives. It’s about being intentional in serving others, sharing what you’ve learned, and using your success to help others succeed as well.”
It’s a philosophy she doesn’t just endorse. It’s one she lives.
Ask Lindsay about a moment she felt truly built and blessed, and she’ll tell you she doesn’t have just one.
“Honestly, my whole life has been an example of being built and blessed by other people. I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have mentors, leaders, colleagues, friends, and family who believed in me, encouraged me, and helped me grow into who I am today.”
Their investment shaped her. Their kindness formed her. And now, she feels a responsibility to do the same—not out of obligation, but out of gratitude.
It’s a responsibility she takes seriously. Whether she’s sitting across from someone in a therapy session, standing in front of a lecture hall, or taking the stage as a speaker, Lindsay is always asking the same quiet question: How can I help this person become a little more of who they’re meant to be?
That, at its core, is what Build Then Bless is all about.
Whether you’re looking for a keynote speaker, a workshop facilitator, or a voice that will challenge and inspire your team, Lindsay brings warmth, depth, and practical wisdom to every room she enters.
